Misbah-ul-Haq Has Been Appointed Pakistan Cricket Team Coach And Chief Selector

The former Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah ul Haq has been appointed as Pakistan cricket team's chief selector and head coach on a three year contract. Pakistan Cricket Board PCB has announced this on Wednesday, 4 September 2019
The former Pakistan cricket team's fast bowler Waqar Younis has been appointed as Pakistan cricket team's bowling coach for a three year contract. Waqar Younis was Pakistan cricket team's head coach twice recently in between 2010 & 2011 and also in 2014 and 2016. Waqar Younis also has been the charge of the club franchise across the world. Including Premier leagues such as BBL Bangladesh Premier League's Sylhet Sixers and also in PSL Pakistan Super League's franchise Islamabad United.
Where as Misbah ul Haq has been appointed first time ever in his career as a head coach and chief selector. Misbah ul Haq has a great leadership experience at all levels in cricket. He captained Pakistan cricket team in 56 Test matches overall, Misbah ul Haq has played total number of 75 Test matches and 162 one-day (ODI) international matches. with scoring about 10,300 international runs in his international career.
On the occasion of Misbah ul Haq's appointment Misbah said " It is very humbling for me to join a select group of some of the very best to have coached the Pakistan national sides in the past. It is an honour and more than that, a massive responsibility as we live and breathe cricket."
Misbah ul Haq onward said " I know the expectations with me are high, but instead I am fully ready and up for this task. We have some of very talented and active cricketers, and it will be a good moment to train them so that they could play intelligent, smart and fearless cricket. I am aware that this change will require some change in dressing room culture of our team, but we need to have complete it consistently through the highest levels of the game. We need to embrace the requirements of the modern-day cricket. "
Waqar Younis and Misbah ul Haq's first coaching task will be starting from the upcoming limited overs series against Sri Lanka cricket team at home. In which there are three one-day international matches and three T20I international matches. Both the players Misbah and Waqar has worked together when Misbah was the Pakistan cricket team's captain and Waqar Younis was their head coach.
Misbah ul Haq further more said that " I am excited once again as I will be working with someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Waqar Younis in my paying corner as the bowling coach of Pakistan cricket team. We have many exciting and young fast bowlers to perform well in any match situation and there is no any better person as Waqar Younis will lead our fast bowlers to transform in modern day stars. "
"Both me and Waqar Younis had a frank and candid discussion, and we agreed on some number of things including some roles and responsibilities about our team and also about how to take things forward with a positive impact."
Former Pakistan cricket team player and newly appointed bowling coach of Pakistan Waqar Younis has played a total number of 87 Test matches, and 262 one day ODI international matches, with strike rate of 67.06 in ODIs and 47.96 in Test matches. Waqar has taken 373 wickets in 87 Test matches and 416 wickets in one day ODI international matches. Waqar's Test debut was on November 15, 1989 against India at National Stadium and the last Test he played in January 02, 2003 against South Africa at Newlands. while Waqar's ODI debut was in October 14, 1989 against West Indies at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium and the last ODI Waqar played against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club, in March 04, 2003. Waqar was also famous with his nickname "The Burewala Express".
Misbah ul Haq played 75 Test matches, 162 one day ODI international matches and 39 T20I internationals, in Test matches misbah has scored 5222 runs , and scored 5122 runs in ODIs and scored 788 runs in T20I internationals. Misbah ul Haq's Test Debut was against New Zealand at Eden Park in March 08, 2001, and played last Test against West Indies at Windsor Park, in May 10, 2017. He debuted ODI against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, in April 27, 2002 and played his last ODI against Australia at Adelaide Oval, in March 20, 2015(Quarter Final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015). Misbah's debut in T20I international was against Bangladesh at Gymkhana Club Ground, in September 02, 2007 and Misbah ul Haq played his last T20I international against England at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, in February 27, 2012.
